In the steps of David Hockney

The 'Brushes' app has been installed on my I-pad and I have been having fun trying it out. Very clever - lots of different mark making and colours at the finger tips - finger painting to a new level.

I have also been playing about with layering up. Some surprising results.
Here are two I did whilst sitting at the window at Homelea.

Exhibitions and other matters

So here we are in a very unseasonal June. The Gladstone Gallery venue was successful only in terms of collaboration and experience. The Royal Mile location was not conjusive to showing our art. Although we had many visitors, only half were actually interested in the art and then only in passing. The mind set was holiday and touristy things.

The 3 Harbours Festival is in full flow -  closing tomorrow. The sun is out today so hopefully there will be many visitors. I was on invigilation duty on Monday and Tuesday. Visitors were a steady trickle and there were sales but painting sales are slow.

Today I got the first contact via website and I have copied it so I can have it readily available to view when things are not going smoothly, so I can feel appreciated once more:

'I saw your work at Cockenzie Power Station yesterday. I liked it very much and so looked up your website. I am sorry I do not buy any artwork - not enough money and always travelling so I am reducing possessions rather than accumulating. I will tell my friends though, and hope you continue working. And, I think, enjoying your work.'

Hopefully the site will draw more of the same.
These are photos of the work as exhibited in the Power Station. I chose the metal shutters especially in order to provide a suitable backdrop. The industrial nature of the material works well with the subject matter of the paintings.
